LARGE SOUR-SWEET FRUIT GROWN IN THE HOTSPUR FIELDS

Waterlemons are large, yellow and green striped fruits grown in the Hotspur Fields along the eastron coast of the Noose River. Their vibrant pink interior has a distinctly sour-sweet taste and it is beloved all around the westron lands. Far to the east, in cities like Treboa and Yverdon, waterlemon is an exotic delicacy since its vines refuse to take root in the hard eastron soil. In the west, waterlemons are eaten in thick slices, their seeds can be roasted, and its juice and ground-up rind mixed into a drink called waterlemon dew. In the east, waterlemons can be fried and the juice is often mixed with Treboan amber to make amberlemon wine. Its colorful slices are also a favorite in still-life paintings by the artists of Camisado. During the Second Great Schism, Crown Prince Gremio, eldest son of the Viridian Emperor Lido, became known as the Waterlemon Prince when he choked to death on the seeds of his favorite fruit. Whispers among the Imperial Court were that Lido’s sister, and Gremio’s own aunt, Dormella had poisoned the waterlemon that sealed his fate.
