The Sun Pillar

MASSIVE SPIRALING TOWER RISING HIGH ABOVE TAMARKIN

The Pillar of the Apotheotic Sun, colloquially known simply as the Pillar of the Sun, is a massive spiraling tower that rises high above the Archaic Quarter of the ancient coastal city of Tamarkin. Some time after the banishing of the Gods of Heaven and Hell, construction was begun by Elihoreph, the one-hundred-and-thirteenth High Mage of Heliomancy. Seeing the way the sun’s rays glittered across the natural crystal growths that sprouted up through the crust of Tamarkin, he chose the tallest one around which to construct his great spire. He wished for his tower to be closer than anywhere else on earth to the Sempiternal Sun and for millenia it was the tallest structure built by the hands of Man. Elihoreph himself never saw it to its final height, having fallen to his demise off the tower’s fourth spiral, blinded by the sun he so dilligently worshipped. Today the great Pillar stands empty and decrepit, the last sunmages having been driven off ages ago by the crusading Magehunters of the Order of the Maleus Maleficarum. Some daring explorers, though, have told tales of exquisite treasures and Magickal artifacts hidden among the highest reaches of the tower.

When the Magehunters stormed the Pillar of the Apotheotic Sun during the Third Great Schism, they herded the remaining heliomancers to the very precipice of the spire and forced them off one by one. It was this act that led to the Lilac Alliance’s Final Sanction - stripping the Order of the Maleus Maleficarum of much of their wealth and power.
