AN OLD DOUBLE-PLUMED AERO SCOW CAPTAINED BY HALINARD

The “Modest Dream” is an aeroship built and manufacted by Strahl-Wessen Aeromacht and rigged in a double-plumed 20cc gasbag configuration captained by Halinard, a cargo pilot out of Edlem. Halinard purchased the Dream from its former owner, Landecker, sixteen years ago when it was known as the “Sistering”. Landecker had run it aground just off the Arm of Carnaim and Halinard bought the old scow for a steal. He swapped its ruined engine out for a 600MP Edler-a7 that he got for a steal of a bargain, and added a brand new pair of aft bellowood gossamer sails. Halinard soon started his own small shipping company carrying foodstuffs and textiles between Edlem and Baron’s Cove, with the Dream crewed by his family - wife, Derna, and three sons, Klaus, Kolbert and Derry. While the Modest Dream may have been a sufficient cargo ship sixteen years ago, its lackluster speed and aging hull would eventually slow Halinard’s business to a trickle. A rushed order from a regular customer of his, Samphrino, at the bazaar in Baron’s Cove prompted Halinard to head out on his own to ensure the goods arrived safely. Just outside the Azulwood, a deafening crack of thunder, accompanied by one of the brightest flashes of light he'd ever seen quickly spoiled his plans. Both starboard gossamer sails and one of the airscrews were lost, and the old captain was forced to expel almost all of his mana just to land in Baron’s Bay where his stranded ship was rescued by Grey’s Ghost, one of the tugs operating out of Duke’s Aeroservice on nearby Baron’s Rock. Repairs would then be started by the young mechanist, Jack, who discovered a rather ominous purple hue to the mana which still lurked in the Dream’s engine cells.
