MYTHICAL SCOURGES OF THE GODS
The Godbreakers were legendary weapons crafted by the Alchemist to combat the Gods of Heaven and Hell many long ages ago. Inscribed with mystical runes, the Godbreakers were wielded by the Heroes, the mythical men and women who were themselves awakened to their own true power by the Alchemist. After the Gods were banished, the Heroes returned to a semblance of their former lives and passed on from the mortal realm, but their colossal weapons remained behind. Some have stood the test of time, standing as epic monoliths over the cities of Men, while others have faded into lore and legend.
Bocan’s Shield
A great shield borne by Bocan the Bondsman, Hero of the Enchained. Its edges bristling with razor sharp blades, the legends say Bocan brought down the mighty God of Hell, Gologmagog, with this Godbreaker. After the sealing of the Gods, Bocan would go on to use his great shield to gouge a trough into the lavaflows of the Harshlands where he built the Guilforge. It is said that his shield rests deep beneath the forge in Bocan's Tomb.
The towering bow brandished by Bren the Brave, Hero of the Rock. Drawing back its glimmering string, he struck an arrow into the heart of the God of Hell, Eliabel, just as his beloved Ylspeth swung her warscythe into the creature’s gut. The two were said to have collapsed into each other’s arms, their fight, and their lives, at an end.
Croydon’s Blade
A longsword carried by the Hero of the Frozen Lake, Croydon the Coldheart. Out of the Northron Wastes he came to accept the Alchemist’s gift and was rewarded with a colossal blade that he used to strike down the rampaging Fenryx. Though he lost an arm in the battle and his blade drowned at the bottom of Bern Lake, Fenryx was sealed within the earth and Croydon played his part in saving the world of Man.
Ilyria’s Hatchets
A pair of handaxes used by Ilyria Ironbark, Heroine of the Blue Wood. With these bladed hatchets in hand, she carved a path through the minions of the serpentine God of Heaven, Ctesiphon, in the forests of the Azulwood. She defeated the coiling beast, but the miasma from Ctesiphon’s wounds rendered half of the Azulwood into a swampy mirk now known as the Bogwood. Before she disappeared into the trees a final time, Ilyria planted her weapons in the fields just south of the forest.
Lohengrin’s Hammer
A massive hammeraxe wielded by Lohengrin the Lyon. With his weapon in hand, Lohengrin smashed his way through the armies of the Gods and crushed the fearful Droghedel beneath its head. Lohengrin succumbed to injuries he faced in that battle and collapsed near the Forsaken Desert, the town of Dust Hill eventually springing up beneath the titanic hammeraxe’s shadow.
Ylspeth’s Scythe
A shimmering warscythe swung by the Heroine of the Snowcaps, Queen Ylspeth of Ulheim. She rode south to accept the Alchemist’s gift and fight for her people, who had been ravaged by the God of Heaven, Yligos. She fell in love with a fellow Hero, Bren the Brave, and together the two vanquished Yligos and the God of Hell, Eliabel, but fell shortly after. They died as they had lived, in each other’s arms.
