MASSIVE STAINED GLASS WINDOW IN THE PALLADIUM

The Baron’s Glass is an enormous stained glass tableau window in the throne room of the Palladium in Baron’s Cove celebrating the 1st Baron Novotny and his wife, the Baroness Ophidia. The Baron had the window commissioned in the first year of his reign by the Glaziers’ Hanse in Briah. Master Glazier Lowgraft and his apprentices, Drubrum and Llyria, labored for well over a year to complete the massive window and incorporated various events of the Baron’s rise to power within its panels.

In the top left corner, the Bountiful Sun shines brightly, its golden rays spreading outward. Below that, a single pink nucifer blooms attended by a pair of hummingswifts. The bottom left panels contains the Baron’s Crest on a field of red, with its corners containing the arms of his loyal knights: the orange cog on blue of Sir Gearhart; the golden dancetty on green of Sir Ruvio; the golden cups on blue of Lord Gandy; and the orange bezants on purple of the unknighted Blind Arthur.

The center panels feature the 1st Baron Novotny seated on his throne to the left and the Baroness Ophidia on the right, with the Scales of Clovitus draped across her lap. Their names are written above on scrolls in the Brel script, from Novotny’s native land of Balabrelock. Below Novotny, the great serpent Clovitus rises, its xanthous eyes aglow. The domes of Baron’s Cove are depicted below Ophidia, with the twin spires of the Palladium rising behind. The top central panels are dedicated to the views looking south across Baron’s Bay: that of Baron’s Rock on the left and Bren’s Bow, the Godbreaker of the legendary Hero, Bren the Brave. Between these scenes, the demonic face of Eliabel, the God of Hell thwarted by Bren the Brave and Ylspeth of Ulheim, looms ominously.

The Waning Crescent hangs solemnly in the top right corner, representing the dark night that Novotny and his men came upon the land that would become Baron’s Cove. Below the starlit sky, an image of one of the pack of braywulves domesticated by Novotny and his caravan as they made their way through the foothills of Monarch’s Ridge is portrayed. In the bottom right panel, the Crest of House Spyridot, the family of Ophidia, is surrounded by the arms of her closest advisors: the gold flecks on crimson of her most trusted handmaiden Ksenya; the green bulettes on gold of Minister Varick; the green timbers on blue of the floromancer Sesostris; and the orange chevrons on blue of her loyal guard Drenomin.
