THE GLASS SWORD OF MERCURIE

Tepistiere was the name of the beautiful glass sword of Mercurie, the legendary Magehunter. She received the sword as a gift from High Minister Domangart of Gran Valeyra following her incredible one-woman defense of the city during the Second Great Schism. Tepistiere was carved from a solid-block of cloudglass recovered from the Tower of the Forgotten Winds and blessed by the ferromancers of Gran Valeyra’s Oldsalt Sanctuary. So long as its wielder was pure of heart, the luminous blade would never shatter. Mercurie carried the sword throughout her career, from her daring rescue of the Lord Admonisher of Nal’s daughter from the clutches of the Asphodel Sharum, to her slaying of the Borborygmus in the swamps of the Sorrowood, to her defeat of the notorious bloodmage Grim Tassiter. When she finally retired from active duty, she bequeathed the diaphanous sword to her longtime friend and close confidant, Lefebvre.

After Lefebvre’s death during the Storming of Streyline, Tepistiere was locked away in the Infernal Vaults beneath the Citadel, the towering fortress of the Magehunters. Its gleaming curves are readily visible in the gloominess of the Vaults, reflecting the candlelit corridors.
