Stone Masque

AN UNSETTLING MASQUE CARVED OF STONE

Caravans traveling across the windswept dunes of the Forsaken Desert often happen upon curiously unsettling masques jutting out of the barren sands. Painted in dull shades of red and white and sporting a skeletal grimace, it is believed that these masques once belonged to the phantom braves of the Bloodtribes. Elite warriors who would hide beneath the desert sands, lying in wait for their foes, the grim visage of a phantom brave was feared throughout the frontier lands. When the Qals of the Bloodtribes, who had allied with the God of Hell, Droghedel, were defeated by Lohengrin the Lyon, the surviving phantom braves fled into the desert. Those who have stumbled upon their stone masques claim to feel an eerie, ominous presence as if the spirit of the long-dead phantom brave still inhabits its masque.

A stone masque in the possession of Yaro, Chief Alder of Dust Hill, is said to have belonged to Vavarin, most famously remembered as the phantom brave who fell in single combat against Lohengrin the Lyon at the feet of Droghedel.
