A RARE STONE FALLEN FROM THE SKIES

Streaking across the sky, not unlike a shooting star, skystones are small rocks that fall every now and then from the heavens. Pockmarked and pitted, and sometimes sprouting brilliant blue crystalline growths, they are highly prized when found, buried deep underground from centuries old crashes or at the smoldering epicenters of their tumultuous impacts. No one is quite sure of their origin, mages and theologists speculating that they are remnants of the star cages holding the Gods of Heaven, deteriorating over the ages; while scientists postulate that they are pieces of the lunar surface broken apart in titanic moonquakes. The legends of shooting stars falling to earth and leaving behind treasure troves is believed to have been drawn from early finds of crystal-studded skystones.
