Miasma

A DEADLY POISONOUS FOG

A foul bespoiling of the air, miasma is a sickly green vapor that seeps from cracks in the earth in some areas around the world. What causes this putrescent fog is unknown, but some speculate it is hateful residue from the Gods of Hell imprisoned below the surface. Those affected by miasma have reported a slow, deteriotating drain on their health, with long term exposure even leading to death. Some historians blame the Plague of Valeyra on a cloud of miasma hanging over the ancient empire. Among those intrepid explorers who claim to have found the lost city of Valvalis, they experienced a different variety of miasma - one that drained mana from the environment, rendering any manufacted artifices powered by mana infusion cells totally useless and leaving mages devoid of their Magick.

The most infamous stretch of miasma-infested land is found just aoutside the ancient city of Wuestenstad. The Dom Golab is an expanse of cracked, parched earth with an ever-present veil of miasma lingering about. In the center of this fog lies the ruins of Drogismega and its vast network of subterranean tunnels and caverns.
