THE MUSICAL SWORD OF CONDUCTOR-GENERAL RUSSETT

Lyricorum was the famed sword of Russett, the Conductor-General of the Knights of Saint Helena. A gift from the Arcanist Guild of Saint Helena, the azure blade had been woven with timemagick. The Conductor-General could keep his fifers, buglers, fiddlers and drummers in rhythm with but a swish of his sword, which in turn led the Knights to march and fight in sync with each other. With his troupe dictating the course of the battle by their enchanted music, the Knights of Saint Helena became a formiddable force. It was not until the Battle on the Noose against the mercenary company, the Loyal Hannah’s, that the spell of Lyricorum was broken. Loyal Hannah and her men struck with a cacophony of sound that drowned out the notes created by Russett’s musical sword and threw the army into disarray. Their concentration broken, the Knights of Saint Helena were overwhelmed by the mercenaries and forced to retreat. Conductor-General Russett and his band, however, refused to run and fought bravely, but ultimately fell in battle. It was their sacrifice that allowed the Knights to escape to safety. So impressed with Russett’s courage and devotion, Loyal Hannah herself retrieved his sword, and it still sits housed in her collection at the fortress of Great Rock to this day.

Duodessis, chronomancer of the Most Astute Guild of the Arcane Sciences in Saint Helena, was the timemage who ensorcelled Lyricorum. He had been working for years to create an enchantment to blend time and music and Lyricorum was his crowning achievement. After the disasterous Battle on the Noose, however, his name and reputation were tarnished. He was banished from his guild and his contracts dissolved. Run out of the city, he was forced to beg for scraps on the dusty streets of Coppertown.
