THIRD DEGREE ENGINEERING AUTOMATON

The Ludovicus-class is a model of automaton manufacted by the Loci Manaworks and patented under number 3277.2219 in the Patency Courts of Baron’s Cove. Due to its compact size and affordable price, these units are a staple in any mechanist shop or among a larger station’s stable of automatons. An improvement over the outdated Poindexter-class, the common configuration of the Ludovicus sports a reinforced carbon-coated isern-block shell, an internal mana infusion cell, two interchangeable gimel-grip handler appendages, two stud-bolt ambulatory appendanges, a midsection storage compartment, and an onboard Loci-Walburton Mark XII.V analytic engine. A common after-market upgrade includes a treadwheel driver replacement for the ambulatory appendanges and a side-mount storage locker that connects to the right-side shoulder joint. The analytic engine can also be upgraded to a Mark XII.VII if performed by a Loci Manaworks-trained arcanist. The Ludovicus, like other Loci-manufacted automatons, is powered on by pressing the large rounded activator button located on the unit’s top side. Within seconds, the mana infusion cell will flood the reservoir channel veins running along the outside of the carbon-coated shell with the blue light of quality refined mana. It is recommended to use only Loci Manaworks manufacted mana cells in Ludovicus-class units, as units running non-Loci cells have been known to break down in a spectacularly disasterous fashion.
