THE VAMPYR HUNTING SWORD OF FROST

Lesperith’s Bane was the name of the sanctified wooden sword belonging to the vampyr hunter, Frost. Frost himself claimed to be a dhampyr, the offspring of the unholy union of Man and vampyr. His mother was said to have been Chichely, one of the Daughters of Lesperith. The Daughters were a sisterhood of women fathered by Lesperith, the High Mage of Haemomancy, over the centuries until his disappearance. Frost resolved early in life to destroy Lesperith, experiencing the uncontrollable bloodlust of his mother firsthand. To that end, he traveled the land hunting rogue bloodmages and those who had succumbed to the curse of vampyrism. He carried a wooden sword which he named Lesperith’s Bane. Carved of solid hawthorne, the wood most accursed to vampyr, and blessed by the Sisters of Sanctimony at the Shrine of Slumber in Sinneslochen, it was adorned with a litany of runes and symbols to ward off the foul bloodmagick of the High Mage. For decades, Frost traveled the countryside, wielding Lesperith’s Bane and his traditional longsword Thuringir, roaming from village to village, at times working with Magehunters of the Order of the Malleus Maleficarum, following any whispers that might lead him to his despected grandfather. He abruptly vanished ages ago, last seen venturing into the ancient necropolis beneath Sinneslochen, long believed to be Lesperith’s lair.

The Sisters of Sanctimony, a sorority dedicated to the eradication of bloodmages and vampyr, carved Lesperith’s Bane from a hearty branch of the ancient hawthorne, Remidessis, which grows in the courtyard of their sanctuary, the Shrine of Slumber.
