TRADITIONAL PRAYER BEFORE A HERO'S GRAVE

When the great war between the Gods and Men ended, the surviving Heroes returned to their homes. Celebrated throughout the land, some lived like kings while others led quiet, simple lives in isolation. Many of the Heroes had perished in battle, their monstrous Godbreakers settling where their wielders had fallen. The people of the world gathered the bones of these Heroes, and the ones who had died in old age as all Men do, and built monuments to commemorate their victory and venerate their spirits. Wealthy provinces like Baron’s Cove built incredible palace-like shrines to house the bones of their Heroes, while poor villages and camps built simple edifices to mark their Heroes’ resting places. At each grave, worshipers would gather, recite a prayer and leave an offering, hoping that the spirit of the Hero would grant them some boon or blessing. Throughout history, however, it has been said that some individuals have felt an unease about them when visiting a Hero’s Grave, as if the spirits of those deceased warriors were attempting to communicate to them some message from beyond.
