CURRENCY OF THE REALMS OF MAN

Crescents are the coins used throughout the realms of Man. In ancient days, every petty kingdom and fiefdom used their own brand of coinage; from the square-shaped clades of Auld Lochnora to the star-shaped asters of Tamarind. When the powerful Viridian Empire conquered most of the known world, their adoption of the crescent from the fallen Empire of Valeyra led to it being the most used coinage in the land. Soon it came to be used by all the lands of Men, even after the fall of Viridia. Only in the Crowlands did they resist the almighty crescent, the Drow preferring to use their own separate form of coinage, the teardrop-shaped fil. Crescents are normally minted in three denominations: bronze; silver, which is worth five bronze crescents; and gold, which is worth ten bronze crescents. It’s said that the emperors of Viridia had so much wealth that they minted full moon coins of solid orichalcum worth a thousand bronze crescents.
