A DOG BREED NATIVE TO BARON'S COVE

The common muppear is a breed of dog native to the lands surrounding Baron’s Cove. It is said that the breed was brought to the Cove by the 1st Baron Novotny himself, whose men had domesticated the curly-haired braywulves that hunted the foothills around Monarch’s Ridge. Over time, two distinct coats were bred, the longhair which retains the curls of its braywulf ancestors, and the shorthair, whose sleek fur is well-suited to hunting the northern wetlands. According to the marshals of the Baron’s Cove Canine Club, purebred longhairs range in color from tan to brown, while purebred shorthairs also include a blue shade. The coat of the common muppear is most often solid, but a lighter shade spot may sometimes appear on the chest, ears and snout. Among brown shorthairs, a brindled pattern is also found. The common muppear stands at about a cubit and a quarter, with males often coming in taller and leaner. Puppies are born with a seafoam green eye color, which matures into a deep azure or cool grey.

The muppear has become one of the symbols of Baron’s Cove, with the current 8th Baron Novotny himself owning a rather large litter of purebred blue shorthairs. Because of this, it has become fashionable for the gentry of the Cove and outlying communities to own them as well. Last year’s winner of the Baron’s Cove Canine Club Pageant was a stunning blue shorthair named Dremachus, owned by Lady Sophelia of Lydane.
