THE ELEGANT SWORD OF OCTAVIANA

If any name is synonymous with the swordhands of Llandrilo, it is that of Brave Fencer Octaviana. Though the industrial city stands as a leader in aeroship innovation and progress, the tradition of swordplay still holds strong. With 77 consecutive wins in the Escrimé Circuit, Octaviana rose to the rank of Brave Fencer at the young age of 24. Her weapon of choice was the elaborately decorated Chevrefoil. Crafted in interlacing rings of rose gold by the masters of House Sincroix, this epee became her signature weapon on the circuit. Her final bout came against Halitarnan, Brave Fencer of the Colicott School in Lydane. The match was attended by Cardinal Westfall of Our Lady of Wind and Coin sanctuary in Edlem, an ardent devotee of the Escrimé Circuit. The two competitors were evenly matched, scoring touch after touch until they were tied at 14 apiece. It was at this time that Followers of the Defaced One, insane religious zealots, chose to attack the Cardinal. Octaviana dropped her mask and rushed to the Cardinal’s side and fearlessly fended off the fanatics. Halitarnan, impressed with her bravey and heroics, conceded the bout. Octaviana would retire shortly after, going on to teach the art of the sword at her own prestigious academy in Llandrilo. She still wields Chevrefoil as she instructs her students.

Granady, master goldsmith of House Sincroix, based the design of Chevrefoil’s hilt on the nine whiplike tails of the grimalkin, a wildcat that hunts among the hills of the nearby Arm of Carnaim.
